Founded in 1972, the Thames Eye Group combines the services of Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, and Licensed Opticians to efficiently provide excellence in eye care services. We have two modern offices conveniently located in Mystic, Connecticut and Westerly, Rhode Island.
Dr. Charles Lanzillo and Dr. Prior Parker are Board Certified Ophthalmologists with over 20 years of experience who use the most advanced medical and surgical techniques to diagnose and treat eye disease. They are on the staff of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and on the consulting staff of Westerly Hospital. Their expertise is available for new patients and for consultations from local physicians and optometrists with whom they commonly share patients.
Our Optometrist provides routine eye exams and contact lens fitting in our Mystic office with extended evening hours for your convenience.
Eye Care Services
Routine Exams: Vision testing, medical eye exams, contact lenses.
Cataracts: Outpatient surgery with local or topical anesthesia, sutureless incisions, and foldable intraocular lenses. Patients have the possibility of glasses independence after surgery with the ReSTOR multifocal lens and the Crystalens accommodating lens to correct vision at distance and at near, the Toric intraocular lens to correct astigmatism. Transportation to the surgery center is available for the convenience of our patients.

Glaucoma: Full range of medical, laser, and surgical treatments including Humphrey automated visual field testing, GDX analysis, and fundus photography.
Retinal Disease: Diagnosis and management of diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration including fluorescein angiography, fundus photos, and OCT analysis.
Oculoplastics: Upper lid blepharoplasties, ectropion and entropion repairs, and excision of skin tumors of the lids.
Laser Surgery: Treatments for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and other ocular diseases are performed in our Mystic office.
Contact Lenses: Our Mystic office provides the latest technology available to patients who choose contact lens correction as an alternative to glasses or refractive surgery. If you are coming for contacts, please specify this when making your appointment so you can be properly scheduled.
